Energy and Land Legislation Amendment (Energy Safety) Act 2025

Energy Safe’s regulatory powers have been strengthened by recent changes to Victoria’s energy safety legislation.

Some of the changes have now come into effect. Further changes will come into effect on 30 June 2025 and 1 April 2026. The changes affect the Electricity Safety Act 1998, the Gas Safety Act 1997, the Pipelines Act 2005 and the Energy Safe Victoria Act 2005.

The Energy and Land Legislation Amendment (Energy Safety) Act 2025 builds on previous changes which came into effect in May 2024 and is another important step in strengthening our legislative framework to support us to keep Victoria energy safe.
